Student post O level paper on twitter
The Straits Times, November 18, 2010
Student Xavier Ong took a photo of the GCE O level social studies examination paper and posted it on twitter. He challenged the other student by writing "Do you dare bring a phone into examination hall and take a picture?" The post shocked many twitter user locally and globally, even a girl from United Kingdom comented to ask whether such action is legal.
Xavier Ong's purpose of posting the picture is to seek attention and gain more followers. Many twitter users had left their comment showing their unhappiness about the post, the comments had made his resolve stronger to make more controversial comments He admitted that he posted the picture and even released a video to explain what happened, hoping to gain more followers.

I do not understand what the teenagers nowadays think, why do they like to seek attention from others? I stronger disagree with what Xavier Ong had done. His action shows that he is taking the national examination lightly and even treat it as a joke. He is doing this just simply to get more attention to benefit himself, he thought that his reckless and childish act is cool as nobody had done it before so he challenged the other students to follow suit. But, he is totally wrong! as the consequences he had to face for not obeying the rules is not cool anymore, it may be severe and might affect the whole population of candidates taking the same exam as they may have to retake the exam again, the invigilators involved are also in deep trouble just because of his action. I believe some parts of the video that he relaesed is  not true as all candidate will be given a handbook on the rules and regulations of the exam from PSEA way before the exam start however, he claim that he was not briefed until he take the exam. Moreover, invigilators will ask candidate to surrender any unauthorised items before the examination begin but he did not do so and Social studies is not the first paper of the GCE O level examination therefore I believe he was briefed many times. He failed to take responsibility as a candidate for the national exams by bringing his phone into the examination hall and had set a bad example for his fellow juniors in the school. The authority should do something to punish this reckless and childish boy like suspending him from taking the exam or fail him for the paper, by doing so, it gives Xavier Ong a serious warning and to discourage the other to follow his actions.
